There are three people appointed to collect the toll on fairs days. People that buy cattle has to pay six pence on a cow, three pence for a sheep, and a shilling for a horse as tollage. When bargains are made the person who guys the cattle hits the other man's hand and says 'The bargain is made.' When the bargain is mdde the person who sell gives a luck penny back to the man who buys. There used to be fights here long ago and the people used to hold them for years. Fairs are never held in fields here, they are held in the fair green. The biggest and most important of the fairs are the 8th May and 7th November.
