  2. At early dawn I once had been where Lenes blue waters flow
    And when Summer bids the leaves be green the lamp of light to glow
    As on by Bowel and town and tower and wide-spread fields I strayed
    I met a maiden in the green woods No shoe, no stocking, cap nor cloak no mantle fair she wore
    But down her waist were ringlets fair that swept the tall grass o'er
    Her milking pail was in her hand she was lovely bright and gay.
