  1. In former times people began to wear boots when they wer twelve years of age, and then only while attending mass on Sunday. When they were walking to mass they took off their boots until they reached the church. When they were returning home they did same and walked barefooted on the road.
    There are very few people now who go without boots or shoes all the year round. In the summer several children go barefooted but not during the winter.
    The water used for washing the feet is thrown three yards from the doorway, and it is good for keeping the
