  1. Long ago in Ardrum house which is now owned by the Colthurst's there lived a very wealthy family. These usually kept seven hunting (hos) horses.
    One of them was so fond of his horse that he ordered him to be buried with himself, with his saddle and bridle on.
    Now, these were buried in a place called the Old Court about three hundred yards from the great house. Not far from the court some people believed that gold was buried there.
    One night three young men planned to go and dig for the gold. On a bright moonlight night these three started off with a pick and two shovels, and soon reached the hiding place, but then the bother was where to begin.
