  1. Mr. Wheeler of Bandon was the Landlord of Kilclough. The family had authority over the land for about a hundred years. They were looked upon as very good landlords and no eviction or panting took place in Kilclough. The landlord or his family never visited the townland but the tenants paid their rents to an agent in Cork known as Mr. Lane.
The land was divided into farms and let to tenants under their guidance. Two farms were sub-divided among members of families on marriage. The tenants were not punished for trivial acts. Tithes were collected in the district in former years for the upkeep of the Protestant Minister. They were collected in money and sometimes the gatherer was robbed on his way home. Battles were fought on account of them as sometimes the tithes became very high.
