- Long ago the old people used to have only three meals in the day. They used to have oaten-meal bread and milk for breakfast, potatoes and milk for dinner, and bread and milk for supper. Some of the old people used to work in the morning before their breakfast. They used to put the table in the middle of the floor and sit all around it. Meat was very seldom used. Fish was eaten very often. They used to eat certain kinds of food on feast-days. They used to eat a great lot of eggs on Easter Sunday. Long ago they used cocoa and coffee before they used tea. Basins were used before cups became common.
