    is its principal recommendation, as the price is from two to three pounds; the cost of the wood work in Kilkenny is about thirty shilllings; the weight of iron in a car four and a half stone.
    The use of oxen in the plough seems to be increasing in the neighbourhood of Kilkenny; and they are used in some degree by different farmers all over the county; though the proportion is very small in comparison to horses. The farmers justly prefer heifers when they can be got. They are always harnessed with straw collars and hames, and generally with straw back bands, and neck collars of gads by which they support the chains of the plough.
