    There lived some years ago an old bachelor in a townland about eight miles from this, whom was very fond of card playing, He always heard about the fairies but he never believed in them.
    One night, he did not know what hour of the night it was as there were no clocks in those times and when he was half way through the boitrin leading to his house, a horse and rider came out of a field, and he was so tall that he could hardly see him driving very quickly he got so much afraid that there did sweat come out through every bit of him and he was hardly able to reach home. He never stayed out late after that,
