  1. Many years ago the old people had many beliefs in certain cures for their ailments and diseases.
    But at the present time any person who has any ailments goes to see a doctor and therefore they have to pay a large sum of money for any cure or information they get from him.
    There are very few of the cures of our ancestors left in my town-land and they that are left are nearly for-gotten and are not heeded as much as in former years
    The doctors are very common now and are nearly able to cure every sickness and ailment.
    They have certain medicines for every different disease and ailment.
    In the following lines are a list of some old cures which are uses in my native parish - For colds -mountain sage
