  1. Local Songs

Amongst the mountains in my home,

    I
Amongst the mountains in my home,
    A silent peaceful Glen,
A solitude where I may roan,
Far from the haunts of men.
    II
When day and night are meeting
    Upon the hillside there,
    The moor cock's lonesome greeting
Breaks on the still cool air.
    III
Tis then I wonder on the heath,
    And drink of draughts divine.
Theres something in the air I breathe
    That gladdens me like wine.
    IV
I stand and watch the shades of night,
    Beyond the gleam of day
    Dissolving in a rose light.
