    alone for a few weeks until the green stalks peep above the dry surface. Then they are moulded by lifting the mouls from the bottom of the furrows on a shovel and spreading it lightly over the ridges and stalks. Then the stalks grow up strong and when they are about a foot above the ground they are sprayed with a solution of melted blue stone and washing soda. This is done in order to prevent the blight from appearing among the potato stalks.

  2. The manure which had previously been brought to the field where the potatoes are going to be set is spread in rows about a foot wide. A bag of "seed" is brought from the house and when that is used another bagful is brought. The "seed" dropped in the following way. A bucket is filled with the "seed" and they are dropped
