  1. An old remedy for a stye in your eye is to prick it with a gooseberry thorn or to make the sign of the cross over it with a marriage ring. Three Hail Mary's to St. Patrick's mother will cure a tooth-ache - another cure for it is to put some snuff on a piece of wadding and put it on the tooth.
    A cure for consumption is to boil dandelions and drink the water. A cure for a sprained foot is to rub goose grease into it or to hold your foot against a running stream. A cure for warts is to wash them in the water that collects in a tombstone.
    A cure for a wasp's sting is to put blue on it, and it prevents it from rising
