(continued from previous page)man had the bears skin full of porridge. The giant was very ashamed because he had to give the hundred pounds to the man. The two went away to the castle then and started to fight. The giant thought he would kill the man and get his money back. The two started to fight and the giant hit the man with his sword and the bears skin burst and the porridge all came out. The man fell back against the wall and the giant thought he was dead. The giant made to carry him out and the man stuck him with his sword and killed him. He cut off the head of the giant and put it with the other ones in the gap. They built the castle and the man got three hundred pounds from the owner of it. He went home to his mother and she asked him had he any money with him. He said first he had not and the woman was very angry. At last he emptied his pockets, his cap, his shoes, and he had an old shirt, and let all fall to the ground. She gathered them up and put them in an old handkerchief that she had and left them up behind the couple in the upper room.(continues on next page)
