Between the Ballyshannon-Belleek road and the river Erne, about 200 yards east of the Ballyshannon customs station, there is a path, about the width of the road, running parallel to the river. This is said to be the old Ballyshannon-Enniskillen road which was used by Red Hugh O’Donnell. It had to be closed because it was dangerous.
