  1. Every year about an acre of potatoes is sown on our farm. This hardly ever varies. My father ploughs the land before the potatoes are set into ridges. The land is not manured before it is turned up but after the potatoes are set some manure is put on. Then when the stalks begin to appear above the ground they are moulded. When the stalks come up through the ground again and this is called "remoulding".
