    who brought the true faith to Ireland.
    On May Eve people had a custom to sweep the threshold clean and sprinkle it with ashes , then of May morning a foot print was looked for and if the foot print turned inward a marriage would occur in the house but if it turned out a death would happen before the year was out. Fire, milk or butter is never given away on May Eve, as to give any of them would be giving away luck. Another custom on May morning was all the people were up very early to have the first bucket of water out of the well to throw some of it on the churning as they beleived whoever had the first one would get a lot of butter on the churning for the year.
