    The jury found him guilty
    One bleak December day,
    And the Judge made up his mind
    To take his life away;
    He was murdered in old Ireland
    Far across the sea,
    One thousand men like Cadogan
    Would set old Ireland free,

    No danger did he fear,
    He knew that he was innocent
    This gallant mountaineer;

    But some decreed it so,
    Despite the perjured evidence
    Of Dennis and Dukelow

    Hounded, gallant, Cadogan
    Which proved his destiny;
