  1. Up to the present day young people find great fun on November's night in getting a bag of beans and picking out the white ones to stand for girls and the black ones to stand for boys. Then they all sit around the fire and they clear the ashes off the hot flag, and put a "girl" and "boy" down together on the flag naming each bean after some local boy and girl who are supposed to be friendly with each other. If the beans burn out together its a sign that the two will get married and will live happy together and if the beans burst or separate from each other its a sign that the boy and girl would separate and would never be married.
