- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the bank. When the mud is well mixed it is thrown out of the hole and the men on the bank spread it evenly to a depth of about six inches. The mud is shaped into turf. They are raised on their ends in about ten days and when dry are put in stacks. Then they are drawn home in carts and are stored for future use.
The mud is shaped into sods about nine inches long and four inches wide. The man who does the shaping stands in the middle of the mud with his trousers rolled above his knees and his shirt sleeves rolled above his elbows. He bends down and makes the mud with his bare hands.
