The principal kinds of potatoes in this district are Epicures, Kerrs Pinks an Aran Banners. Epicures are early potatoes and are ripe first. Kerr's Pinks are very nice potatoes and very pleasant to the taste. The Aran Banners are big white potatoes and not so nice as Kerr's Pinks but good for feeding animals. Sometimes a blight falls on the potatoes and this causes them a lot of trouble and loss and to prevent this disease he puts a spraying mixture. This mixture consists of sulphate of copper and soda both of which are dissolved in a certain quantity of water an the mixture is then put into a copper vessel and the green stalks are sprayed with it.
