- The first days of the week, are the lucky days, and the last three are not counted so lucky. People do not like to begin any kind of work on a Tuesday, as the old people used to say, "Tuesday's beginning is a tedious ending." People like to change or flit to a new house or even to a position on a Tuesday, as "Tuesday's flit is a long sit." And they do not like, to set up a house or begin anything on a Saturday, as "Saturday's flit is a short sit."
The farmer's like to have the last of potatoes in, before the 8th of May. And they also like to have the corn all sowed, before the Cuckoo comes, for if not it would be called "Cuckoo" corn" and supposed not to ripen until late.
The cold days at the beginning of April were borrowed by March, to skin the old cow out. There was a piper had a cow at that(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
