    One morning early as I went walking down by the banks of a hurling rill

    One morning early as I went walking down by the banks of a purling rill.
    My way I wandered both slow and easy until I came unto Claudia Mill.
    I heard a shot which drew my attention and I inquired what might it be.
    But still advanced a little further a dreadful sight there I chanced to see.
    With hastened steeps and with some emotion.
    I made my way up to the mill door.
    I saw a sight which struck my attention.
    A man stretched dead there upon the floor I stood a while and
