  1. About fifty years ago there lived in the townland of Bogeskey a poor woman, who had three sons named Benjamin, James, and John. John was the eldest, and his mother wanted him to get married. One night a poor woman knocked on the door looking for lodging. The woman of the house let her in and she told her that she had a son ready to be married. The old woman said, "As I came by the King's gate i saw a notice up" that, no one would marry his daughter unless someone who could land in his lawn in a boat without sea or water."
