  1. There lived near Kilmihil long ago a man named Tom Darcy with his wife and children. One night in spring a brown cat came to the door; they let her in.
    She stayed with them until winter. The wife noticed there was something peculiar about the cat.
    She said to Tom that she would hunt her away only for the care she was taking of the children as she used keep them from the fire.
    One morning the wife asked Tom to take the children's measure for boots and to Kilrush for them. He did and the cat sat listening all the time. A last she called out "Moll roy" very loud and frightened Tom and wife.
