- In olden times people began to wear boots at the age of ten years. There are no customs or beliefs connected with the water used for washing the feet. Children go barefooted in Summer, but not in winter. There are no shoemakers in this district now, but some years ago there were two shoemakers in each district. Clogs were worn and made locally in olden times. They are sometimes worn yet in stormy weather in the winter.
