Ar an leathanach seo

    are left there to start their growth. The drills are closed with a drill plough also. When the potatoe stalks are 1 or 2 ins high they are grubbed and moulded and this is also done with a drill plough.
    The stalks are then sprayed with bluestone by either a horse sprayer or a hand sprayer. This is not done every year it is only done when it is feared the blight will come on them and the blight generally comes on them when the weather is very wet and foggy.
    The blossoms come on them during the month of July and when they fall off the stalks wither away and the potatoes begin to ripen and they are ready for digging in September or October. They are dug out with a spade by some people and with a potatoe - digger by others but we always plough them out and some of the neighbours help us to pick them. When they are picked they are put into pits in the potatoe field and sometimes they are drawn in and put into houses. We keep enough of them for ourselves to eat and for pigs and hens and we sell the rest.
    We set many different varieties of potatoes every year here are the names of some of them:- British Queens, Kerr's Pinks, Sutton's
