- Fairs are held in nearly every important town or village in the country. They are always held in towns.

In Rathdrum the fair is held in the market square and on the fair green an open space outside the town. There is no ?toll yard. The fair is held on the first Tuesday in every month.
The usual method of closing a bargain is to shake hands and have a drink on it.
The greatest fair of the year is the October fair which is called "The Apple Fair."
When elections are coming on, politacal meetings are held on fair days. There is often fights at these meetings when the farmers are drunk.
Old women hold clothes stalls in the market-square.
