There is an old man, named Paddy Earley, who comes once every year to Smyths, Brusselstown, and stops for a night. He sleeps on straw on the loft. He has an ass and cart and a dog, and he brings his food with him. Sometimes he is called "Paddy, the drover", because he would drive sheep or cattle to the Fair for you. Another man who came to Smyths was Paddy Burke. He played a melodeon, and if you gave him a penny he would play a tune for you. He travelled on foot and never had his food with him. He got it from the people.
