  1. Sunshine before seven, brings rain before eleven. A rainbow at morning is a shepherd's warning, and a rainbow at night is a shepherd's delight. When the sky is littered with stars it is a sign of plenty of frost and cold weather. When the sky is red when the sun is setting it is a sign of fine weather. When the fire burns bright we may be sure of frost, and when the house smokes there will be plenty of rain. The South wind brings rain to our district. When the wind is blowing from the north we may look out for snow and bad weather.
When the cat or dog turn their back to the fire, they let us know that there is bad weather coming. A green Christmas makes a fat churchyard. Cattle on the hill is a sign of rain. When the seagulls fly inland there will be a storm. A robin on the gate tells people it's going to rain.
