The brother died and Aidan went to the wake and when he entered the sister exclaimed that "The Lord was very cruel to take her lamb" when Aidan answered "Heavens + God he must be fond of mutton."The blacksmith Tom Phayres was fond of a pint. One day a trickster by the name of Edward Kavanagh came to the forge to get a pony shod. He saw Tom put a shilling into his waistcoat pocket that was hanging on the wall. Kavanagh took the shilling on the quiet + going over to Tom he says "Put a couple of shoes on the pony + come + have a pint."
Tom left the others wait + shod Kavanagh's pony + both men then went + had a drink.
Sometime after Tom wanted to buy some nails + went for the shilling but couldn't find it.
Immediately the unusual decency of Kavanagh struck him + he knew where his shilling was gone.
