“Another great battle during the '98 insurrections was the attacks on Enniscorthy.”
xii
Another great battle during the '98 insurrection was the attack on Enniscorthy. The town was well fortified but the Irish saw a way of getting in. They went into a field where there were many bullocks. These they drove out on the road. They stuck their pikes in the bullocks making them run at a very quick pace. The bullocks fearing the pikes charged at the fortification, breaking it open. This enabled the Irish to pass through.Written by : Eamon Devereux
