My father or the workman prepares the ground. The potatoes are sown and manure is put in the furrows. The drills are made with a drill plough and sometimes with a spade. The spades are bought in shops.
Potatoes are graded according to size for potato sowing and sometimes the big ones are cut in halves. There must be an eye on each potato that is sown. The potatoes are sown out of a " praskeen" or a box. Some-times the people help one another when sowing potatoes by spreading the manure or by sowing the potatoes.
