When a dog eats grass it is a sign of rain. Other signs of rain are when a cat sits with her back to the fire, when a snail goes into its shell and when worms appear above the ground. Ducks begin to quack and black frogs are seen on the roads before rain.
If the flys come out and go around it is going to be a fine day. When midges get busy in the evening it is sure to rain next day. When the crickets are singing loudly it is a sign of rain.
Wild geese fly low, plovers will fly down from the hills to the sea, curlews call, crows will fly low, and the seagulls will come inland, before rain comes. Sheep will go to a sheltered ditch before a snowstorm.moons and rainbows.
