  1. It was said that there was gold in a certain place near Tomhaggard about a hundred years ago.
    Some people around say that it was hidden by the fairies, but others say it was the Danes that hid it for feat the enemy would get it.
    A man by the name of James Carty from Tomhaggard went to dig for it, because it was in his farm.
    He could not get at it very well because there was a very big tree where the gold was.
    He dug down very far the first day and he said he would continue the next day, but he wakened at 12 O'clock that night and he saw a light going around where he was digging, a thing he never saw before and he said he would leave it as.
    After a few years a great storm came and blew down the tree and then he saw the gold. It was worth £50,000. He went
