Gaelic football. The used to have a ball made out of hay ropes rolled into a round ball (made) but that was when they were practising. For dress they wore corduroy trousers and a frieze coat made into a cut-a-way at the tail. Some of them had their ordinary boots others used to have brogues on them.
Each team had a referee who would blow the whistle before the match. Then the team would go out on the field and start to play. One man stood in the goal while while the rest were out in the mid of the field trying to gain a score for their own side.
Then at half-time the whistle would be blown again and the sides would change from one side to the other and which ever side got the most scores won. There was always only two teams playing.
Long ago their used to be from thirty to thirty two in each team but now there is only 15.
