    1. In Granard Town between 1860
    and 1871 were 3 National Schools.
    (a) Boy's School, conducted by
    Master Leonard, was in the
    under portion of the building,
    now called the "Hall" in Moxham
    St.
    (b)Girls School, conducted by Mrs
    Somers, occupied the upper
    portion of the "Hall".
    (c) A Mixed School - for girls and
    boys - was situated at a place
    called Rockpark - now
    demolished - then the residence
    of Patrick O'Reilly - known as
    "Master Pat" - at the Northern
    end of Moxham St. Several
    Protestant, Presbyterian and
    Methodist families had their
    children educated there, though
    there was a Protestant School in
    what is still known as Mill's Lane.
    2. In 1871, the Presentation Nuns from Nth. George's St, Dublin came to Granard, dwelt in the house Springlawn opposite the Workhouse (now Vocational School), now inhabited by Mrs Pettit and opened National and Select School for Girls. The Girls School in Moxham St was transferred to the Nuns when Mrs
