night he was returning from one of his beer drinking carouses when lo and behold as he was staggering by the lone bush on his land he heard a little shrill laugh. He stood and listned and heard the laugh again on the other side of the bush.
He made a dash to the spot and took the leprechaun that was laughing unawares so much that he had the leprechaun captured at once more like the cow killed the hare the hare than anything else. The leprechaun screamed with fright. "Take it aisy" said the man "nothing will happen to you if you bring me to where your crock of gold is". The poor leprechaun panted for a while. He was a wizened little fellow about two feet high and wearing the little red cap with turned up toes on his shoes. The man was so full of beer that his hold on the little fellow tightened more and more and the leprechaun, I suppose, thought he was going to be choked and could say nothing. When he did not say anything the man thought he was thinking of a lie to tell him and the man said to him that he would not let him go until he gave him all his gold into his hands.
The leprechaun could do nothing only pant and point to the lone bush where there was a flat stone lying at the back of it
