    In the big wind of January 1839, a man in the locality took refuge in a sheep-crib. When the wind got stronger the sheep-crib was whirled through fields and fence. The man was killed the same wind took the roof of the chapel of Loughnavalley.
    A woman was blown through the air for about a quarter of a mile near Streamstown, and escaped with only slight injuries.
    In the big wind of 1902, Big Pat McCormack's sheds of Bishopstown were blown out in the road. The same wind blew down many trees in Jamestown.
    Peter the Grocer's shed was blown into Long Bill's field at Bishopstown.
