    The smith is a very strong man, and if you went into the forge when he is busy you would see the perspiration on his face and the black dust of the coal all over him.
    The forge is a great centre for story-telling and was always connected with story-telling and news of all kinds. All the news of the country is discussed in the forge while men are waiting for their horses to be shod.
    An implement used for lifting red hot irons is called a "Dog".
