  1. Long ago the people in this country were great weather prophets. They were able to tell when it was going to rain, and when there was going to be fine weather.
    They did not understand a barometer nor had they any need for such things. The sky is what they studied most.
    If the sun went down like a ball of fire, it is sure to be a fine a fine day after it and if it went down pale in colour, and sets in a bank of dark clouds you might be expecting bad wet weather.
    When the moon is clear and bright, with a cloudless sky it is a sign of good weather, and when it is dull with a circle round it, it is a sign of bad weather.
    Great big white fleesy clouds which are called goat-hairs are sure to bring rain.
    During fine weather, while the wind remains in the east,
