He also told me that my grandfather met the leprechaun one Xmas Eve night. He used to visit his friends every year on that night and on this Xmas Eve when he was returning he met the leprechaun.
He was dressed in a hunt's man suit and carried a little whip. My grandfather said, "Good night" but got no answer. Every Xmas Eve night when he was coming home he met the leprechaun in the same place and he was dressed in the same suit and going the same direction but he never bade him "Good night" any more.
My father said it was a drop to much he had taken and that he only imagined he seen the leprechaun.
