Many years ago thunder storm broke out in this district.
The weather was very warm it began about twelve noon the lightning was of a red colour and fork shaped.
Towards six in the evening the flashes of lightening became oftener and the peals of thunder much louder.
The sky got very dark and the air very low you could scarcely breathe.
Then all of a sudden there was a terrific peal of thunder and a flash of lightening together.
There was a terrible panic in the houses around, some people fainted others fell postrate on the ground and there was a smell of powder in the air.
The people in this district wondered very much what had happened, some of the dogs barked loudly and the hens flew up on top of the sheds.
Very soon the people heard that a house was struck.
