At Hallow Eve Colcannon is made and a ring put in it and whoever gets the ring will be married first.Tricks are played on people. Doors are tied, gates are unhinged and brought a distance.

"My New Year's gift on you"
"My Patrick's Pot on you"
On Saint Stephen's Day, the wren boys dress up and go round from house to house.
Many people fast from meat on St Stephen's Day. They say it keeps sickness away for the year.
