It is said that goose-grease will cure a swoolen hand.
It is said that nine gooseberry thorns will cure a sty in the eye. The person who points the thorns to your eye must be no relation to you.
It is said that forge water will cure warts.
It is said that if you kiss a frog it will cure teeth aches.
People put bread and water on a 'beeling' to draw it.
When children suffer from the 'whooping' cough (locally called the 'chin' cough) the following is a sure cure. Get a red ribbon from the god-father (if the sufferer is a girl) or from the god-mother if the sufferer is a boy, and tie it round the neck of the patient. All the symptons will have disappeared within nine days.
