   are supposed to sacred vessels which were buried there by a priest who was fleeing from Cromwell's solders in the Penal days. This moat is not far from a ruined chapel to which the sacred vessels were supposed to belong and the remains of the ruins are still to be seen in the field of Gernonstown near Slane Co. Meath. So that ends the story of this peculiar moat.

   Brigid and her bright manle (?)
   Colomb and his (?) handle,
   At morning whre would thou rise?
