  1. A Blacksmith's Forge
About a mile from where I live here is a forge. It is built beside a stream. There are two half doors on it. There is a cement floor in it. The anvil is situated on a block. The bellows is fixed on a frame with a handle out of it and when you want to blow it you can pull the handle up and down. There is a drill to drill holes in the iron. The smith alsowants a sledge, a hanner, a pincers and a chisel. The man who own the forge does not make farm implements but he mends them. He shoes horses and asses. He makes the shoes himself. FIrst he puts the iron inthe fire to heat it. Then he hits it with the hammer on the anvil and bends it into the shape of a shoe. Then he makes the holes for the nails. When he is putting it on the anvil and bends it into the shape of a shoe. Then he makes the holes for the nails. When he is putting it on the horse he has to pare the horses hoof with a knife. Then he heats the shoe in the fire and he burns the hoof a little. He nails on the shoe with horse nails and teists and breaks the ends off them with the hammer. He then rasps the hoof with a rasp.
