  1. One time a horse was grazing near the shore of Ballyhoe Lake. The owner of the animal went out one night to give him a dishful of oats. When he reached the shores of the lake he could not find his horse. So he left the oats on the ground and went to go home.
When he was some distance away he saw a strange animal like a horse come out of the lake and eat the oats. When it had all the oats eaten it went in under the water again. When the owner was on his way home he found his own horse near the house.
