    About a quarter of a mile from the village of Drumconrath Co Meath there is a large round stone along the side of the main road from the village to Ardee. This stone is situated at a spot where apparently a former old road joined or crossed the present main road.
    In the village of Drumconrath there is an old grave-yard which is not used for burials at the present time.This burial ground adjoins the Protestant Church.In former times when the corpse was carried to the grave-yard for burial,it was the custom to take the coffin to this round stone and carry it around it before entering the grave yard.
    In the adjoining parish there was a similar custom at the Syddan graveyard;but the practice was discontinued about forty years ago on the advice of the then parish priest.In both parishes the stone was situated on the eastern side of the burial ground.
