“In Baytown there lived a woman in a tin house...”
In Baytown there lived a woman in a tin house and everyday she went down to a well for water she always made sure to lock the door after her. The people thought she was a witch because they could get no butter to come on the churn. When they would go to take the butter out of the churn they would find a dead hand instead and they thought she was the cause of that. One day a girl watched her and when she was gone to the well the girl got in the window and she saw a dead hand making butter, then they knew what was the cause of it.

- There is a place called Courthill beside the village of Dunboyne, it is large dwelling houses with beautiful avenues up to it. There once lived a rich family in this house called Conshore. The lady of the house died and she haunted the place. During this time there lived an old man and woman who lived not far from the house. It was the woman's custom to go for a bucket of water to Courthill yard every night. As she was returning one night with the water she met a lady. She recognised her to be the lady of the big house. The woman made the sign of the cross and asked her, her(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
