    level and good for both grazing and tillage. The crops mostly grown are oats, wheat and barley, and the root crops are potatoes, turnips and mangolds. Most of the farmers are dairy farmers.
    The old river inthe locality is the Scraghill river. It rises in Ashfield. It flows eastwards out under the Dublin road, and still flowing eastwards enters Lougher where it is known as the Lougher river. It then flows north and enters the Boyne at McDonnells of Roughgrange. There are no fish in the Scraghill river.
